Greg K. Sabo, B.A., C.G.A.
Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1978 from the University of Manitoba, with a double major in psychology and sociology.
He obtained his designation as a Certified General Accountant in 1986, worked in industry for seven years and public practice from 1986 to date. He specializes in financial advising, taxation, auditing and accounting for a variety of for profit and not-for-profit organizations and individuals.
Greg's extensive volunteer work includes President of The Old School House Arts Centre, Treasurer of Alberni Clayoquot Innovation Society and the Nanaimo Alberni Federal Liberal Riding Association.
He has also served as Treasurer for the Alberni Reef Society and Society of Organized Services and past chair of North Island College Foundation and President of Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise.
Greg's hobbies include running marathons, skiing, tennis and carpentry.
Jared J. Cross, C.G.A.
Jared began his career with the accounting firm of Evancic Perrault Robertson in Port Alberni, BC in 1994. He obtained his designation as a Certified General Accountant in 1999 and became a partner with Johnston, Cross & Co., Certified General Accountants in January, 2002.
In October, 2005 he joined Greg Sabo to form the partnership of Sabo, Cross & Co. servicing Nanaimo, Parksville and Port Alberni.
He is experienced in personal and corporate tax planning for clients of all sizes and diversities specializing in advanced corporate tax planning relating to clients that require reorganization and crystallization.
He has extensive knowledge in Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims both Federally and Provincially for various industries including aquaculture.
His audit experience includes trust and property management audits for real estate and legal associations as well as municipal, corporate and not-for-profit societies.
Jared enjoys a variety of sports.
Nanaimo Office
Michael K. Delves, C.G.A.
Michael began his accounting career in the BC coastal forest industry where he spent 10 years as a management accountant. He chose to apply his skills and experience to serve the public and has been working in public practice since March, 2005. He has experience in preparing corporate and personal tax returns, financial statements and performing audits. He obtained his Certified General Accountant designation in May, 2005.
Michael enjoys Nanaimo life and takes advantage of the excellent sailing, mountain biking and scuba diving that our city provides.
Chris Elliott, B. COMM.
Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2000 from the University of Victoria and began his public practice career. He joined Jared Cross in February, 2005 from Pitcher & Associates in Sidney BC.
He has experience in preparation of personal tax returns and corporate financial statements and tax returns and bookkeeping. Chris is currently in his final year of the CGA program and has completed his Canadian Securities course.
Chris enjoys softball and golf.
Hardeep Kaila, B.B.A.
Hardeep graduated in May, 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction from Malaspina University-College. He joined Sabo, Cross & Co. in January, 2007 and is currently enrolled in the CGA program.
While pursuing his education, he has worked for BC Ferries the past four years as a catering attendant. Hardeep enjoys basketball, football and hockey.
Janice Perry
Janice is a Paraprofessional and has worked in public practice since 1982. She brings to our Nanaimo office a wide range of experience in preparation of personal tax returns and corporate financial statements and tax returns. Janice's areas of specialty include GST, non-resident rentals and dispositions of property, commercial fishing and preparing returns for deceased taxpayers and Estates.
Courtney Knapp
Courtney joined Sabo, Cross & Co. full-time in June 2007 from BMO Bank of Montreal where she worked as a Customer Service Representative. She will graduate in the fall of 2008 from Malaspina University - College with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She will enter the CGA program at level 5.
Courtney enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys watching hockey and baseball.
Karlie Lalonde
Karlie is currently completing her Bachelor of Business Administration at Malaspina University - College with a major in Accounting, and is enrolled in the CGA program. Karlie joined Sabo, Cross & Co. in September 2007. Karlie has worked in the customer service industry for 7 years.
Susan Scheer
Susan has worked in the public accounting field since 1984 in various administrative roles, 16 years of which were spent in Kamloops. Apart from reception, Susan manages the office correspondence and communication and is an excellent liaison dealing with CRA and WCB in setting up new corporations for our Nanaimo office.
Parksville Office
Ray Mayes
Ray brings to our Parksville office 30 years experience in public practice accounting as well as fifteen years as an owner/operator of a small business. He was also controller for an automotive dealership and treasurer for the United Way and Port Alberni Drug and Alcohol Association.
His main areas of expertise are corporate accounting and taxation as well as personal tax preparation.
Ray enjoys golfing and reading.
Sherry Noble
Sherry has been with our firm since September, 2005. Her previous work experience includes office manager of Camrose Electric Controls Ltd. where she worked for eight years.
She is the primary bookkeeper in our Parksville office. She is well versed in all aspects of Simply Accounting including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivables, payroll and government remittances.
Diana Young
Diana originally trained as a draftsperson, received a diploma from Malaspina University - College then worked for the Provincial Government until 1988.
Diana returned to school in 1998 (after having a family) and received a diploma in Applied Business Technology (word-processing & micro computers specialties) from Malaspina University – College in 1999.
Diana recently joined Sabo, Cross & Co. from the Regional District of Nanaimo where she worked in various clerical positions for Environmental Services, Corporate Services and Recreation and Parks.
The rest of her life is absorbed by family but she loves to garden and travel to sunny climates!
Port Alberni Office
Michael Jang, B.A, C.G.A
Michael majored in finance at Malaspina University - College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. Since then he has served communities on central Vancouver Island while working in public practice. He has a wide range of experience in accounting and financial related matters including personal and corporate taxation, assurance engagements and financial planning.
Michael enjoys spending time with family, surfing, sailing and chess.
Kristie Bratt, DiplT
Kristie graduated with a Diploma of Technology in Financial Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in May 2005. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Technology in Accounting from BCIT and is the 4th year of the CGA Program.
She has experience in preparing both personal and corporate tax returns, year end financial statements and bookkeeping.
Gabrielle (GAB) Frost
Gab brings to our Port Alberni office twenty years accounting experience in public practice with local firms, ten years as owner/manager of a bookkeeping firm providing personal income tax/corporate income tax and ten years experience as Controller of a local machine shop.
During this time, Gab also owned and operated a gift shop in Port Alberni and an art gallery in Victoria.
Gab is proficient in Accpac Advantage Series and all aspects of accounting work.
In her spare time, Gab enjoys reading, camping, traveling and her grandkids.
Karen Gardner
Karen has worked in the public practice field since 2002 as an office administrator. She is the receptionist/bookkeeper in the Port Alberni office and brings with her extensive knowledge of payroll, government remittances, and acting as a liaison dealing CRA regarding GST, T2 and T1 issues.
Karen enjoys camping, cross stitching and her cats.
